‘Mountain Bike Challenge’

The most popular Die Burger MTB Challenge, in association with the Simonsberg Conservancy, takes place for the sixth time on Saturday, 30 July, and will be hosted at Laerskool Eikestad in Stellenbosch. It promises to be the best mountain biking experience in the vineyards, with four picturesque routes to choose from, according to your experience and fitness.

Dirtopia’s Meurant Botha has been designing and maintaining mountain bike trails for more than ten years, and says that the four routes will pass through some of the most beautiful scenery in the country.

Die Burger Mountain Bike Challenge Information:

• Die Burger Mountain Bike Challenge will be hosted at Laerskool Eikestad in Stellenbosch, on Saturday, 30 July.
• Pre-entries open on the 1st OF JUNE 2011 on www.dieburgermtbchallenge.co.za.
• Entries will CLOSE on 18 JULY 2011, or as soon as the 3500 entry limit is reached.
• Lucky Draw – a Giant Revel mountain bike worth R2750 to be won.

Die Burger MTB Challenge Routes:

• The 60km Route – demanding course, mountains, some serious climbing, technical descents and lots of single track; the winner is expected to finish in approximately three hours.
• The 42km Route – a tough challenge, not for beginners.
• The 30km Route  – relatively flat course towards Spier Wine Estate, usually one of the most popular routes of the event.
• The 15km Route – perfect for novices, follows a shortened version of the 30km route with identical start and finish sections.
• (The 75km Ultra Route – open by invitation only to about 200 riders, for the very best and experienced mountain bikers).
